Dr. Karen Blount is originally from Pulaski, NY, and joined Windsor Animal Hospital in 2016. She received her Bachelor's degree in Geology from Smith College, then went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis. Her special interests include veterinary dentistry, surgery and the treatment of exotic pets, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and hamsters. When asked what she enjoys most about being a Veterinarian, Dr. Blount said: "Every day is a different day. I particularly enjoy surgery."
Her family consists of her partner, Renee, who is a professional musician and graphic designer, their two dogs and one cat, Dingo. Her Chihuahua, Jack, was a rescue, and her terrier-mix, Marley, was dumped at previous hospital she worked at as an 8-week old blind puppy with a broken leg–Dr. Blount just had to keep her!
In her spare time, Dr. Blount enjoys gardening, hiking, skiing and reading.
