Hi! My name is Denise Varner and I am currently working in the Surgery department. I've been working as a RVT for over 30 years where most of those years were spent in emergency. I learned a great deal about Ortho Research and Microsurgery during my 10 years at CWRU. I also spent a few years as an adjunct instructor at Stautzenberger College. Currently on the weekends you may find me teaching Pet CPR and First Aid for animal related businesses in the state of Ohio.
Next spring my husband(Dale) and I will have been married for 25 years! We have two daughters (Alena and Gina) at Kent State University and a son (Vincent), a high school senior who will be heading to Walsh University next fall on a baseball scholarship. My pets include a special 10-month-old Golden puppy (Lucy) and three lovable cats (Mario, Luigi and Goofy). As a previous Great Lakes employee in 2004, I helped care for a two-week-old hypoglycemic kitten that has shared my home with me and my family since.
When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my family, sports, gardening and cooking!
