Dr. Akella received her veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from Taiwan, she worked as an oceanographer and data scientist at Goddard in Silver Spring,
prior to her veterinary medical career. Dr. Akella completed a small animal emergency and specialty internship in Annapolis, then worked as a general practitioner in Rockville prior to joining VCA Lewis in 2022. She lives in Columbia with her husband and their son, three cats (Jack, Jill, Mystic), and sweet memories of their forever-loved chihuahua, Liang.
