Makayla was born and raised in Wasilla, Alaska, and graduated from high school in 2022. She has had a lifelong passion for animals, which led her to begin working in doggy daycares and boarding facilities. Over the course of two years, she gained valuable hands-on experience caring for and loving dogs and cats of all personalities and needs. Building on that experience, Makayla pursued her goal of entering the veterinary field and joined VCA Big Lake as a veterinary assistant. She takes pride in continually growing her clinical skills and plans to further her education to become a veterinary technician. Through her work, she has developed a strong interest in pathology and surgery, areas she hopes to pursue further in her career.
Outside of work, Makayla enjoys long road trips, painting, baking, and exploring Alaska with her partner, Cory.
