Dr. Jim graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors degree in Zoology in 1996 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1991. His first job was outside of Chicago in a small animal practice, but he returned to practice in Marshall, Michigan in 1992. He became a practice owner in 1994 and it grew to become Marshall Animal Care Center in 1997. He enjoys the small animal setting as a general practitioner, and has a special interest in orthopedics and soft tissue surgery.

Outside of veterinary medicine, he enjoys traveling, reading and cooking. He currently lives in Kalamazoo with his partner, Dave, and 1-year-old Boxer, Gillian.
