Mara was born and raised in Kansas, and is the second oldest of six children. Mara has always loved animals from a young age. She has a degree in farm and ranch management, with a certificate in equine science. She'd love to help someone manage a horse farm one day!

Mara is an army wife that has been to three duty stations. She has been in the veterinary field for over five years, and used to be the reception manager at her last vet practice in Virginia. Mara moved to Alaska in Sept 2021 with her husband, English mastiff, domestic short hair, and recently got her Appendix horse shipped up. Mara joined the VCA Big Lake staff in August 2022.

In her spare time, Mara likes to hike, ride horses, read, and cook. Mara is passionate about client education and parasite prevention.
