Kate joined the VCA Care team in June 2016 after a five-year career in the psychological field. She originally planned to work in the mental health industry, and earned a BS in Psychology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2011, but her love for animals and their wellbeing overpowered her into making a career switch. She has volunteered with multiple animal organizations including the Santa Barbara County Humane Society, Carpinteria Seal Watch, Wildlife Care Network, and in October 2016, she spent two weeks in Thailand volunteering at an elephant sanctuary with the Bamboo Project.

Fun Fact: In 4th grade, Kate created the "Kitty Kat Club," where she gathered friends around and discussed one breed of cat each week (it only lasted about three weeks, but what great three weeks those were). Now, the only cat she hangs around is her pet, Hobbs, a rescued kitty with a backwards foot.
