Dr. Devin Smith has been with VCA Ridge Road Animal Hospital since graduating from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2016. She was raised in a small town outside of Waco, Texas and attended Texas A&M University where she was granted early acceptance to the Texas A&M veterinary school as a junior in the biomedical science program.
From a very young age, Dr. Smith told her parents she would grow up to become a veterinarian. She grew up with a multitude of dogs, birds, and other small exotics. In college, she worked as an intern at the Henry Doorly Zoo with lemurs and also worked part-time at Schubot Center for Avian Health in College Station where she developed a further love for all birds. During veterinary school, she even got the chance to travel to Peru and study large macaws for two weeks in the Amazon rainforest. Dr. Smith is passionate about animal education and promoting a love of science in young children, so she spent her summers in veterinary school traveling around Texas doing presentations for zoos, animal shelters, and other various kids' camps. She continues to speak at local schools and enjoys community outreach events.
When not at work, Dr. Smith enjoys giving back to the community through serving on the Young Professionals of Rockwall board and being a member of Divine Peace Church in downtown Rockwall. She is a mom to two fabulous children, a menagerie of cats and birds and is passionate about her job and community. Dr. Smith loves surgery, exotic animal medicine, internal medicine, ultrasonography and continues to enjoy building lasting relationships with our clients and their beloved animal companions.
