Melissa has been welcoming clients and comforting pets at VCA Shoreline since 2017. She joined the Client Service team before becoming an emergency liaison in 2021. Now lead liaison, she supports and mentors both the Liaison and Client Service teams.
Before joining veterinary medicine, Melissa worked with children and families as a marriage and family therapist. She brings those listening and communication skills to the emergency room, helping clients feel supported during some of their hardest days.
Her favorite part of the job is knowing she can help a pet, a family, or a teammate. She believes deeply in teamwork and brings warmth to the hospital through hugs, high fives, and a knack for appearing whenever there's free food. She has a particular soft spot for pit bulls.
Outside the hospital, Melissa enjoys time with her children, Nate and Jamie, and her mixed-breed dog, Dee Dee. She loves coloring, relaxing at home, and listening to music, especially '90s alternative rock and Noah Kahan. If you see her around the hospital, say hello!
