Dr. Cecilia Lopez is a board certified medical oncologist joining VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic. She graduated veterinary school from Texas A&M University in 2013 and completed a rotating small animal internship at VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. She completed a medical oncology residency at The Ohio State University, benefiting from a comprehensive approach to veterinary oncology by working as part of a team in an integrated service with surgical and radiation oncologists. Dr. Lopez went on to start a medical oncology service at VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona. Although she loved working in the Phoenix area, Dallas has always been home. She is more than excited to be coming back to the area and joining the wonderful team at ADC.
Dr. Lopez oversees treatments including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and palliative treatments. Dr. Lopez also assists with cancer diagnosis and staging. She is passionate about helping to educate pet owners about the many options that may be available for treating cancer, personalizing treatment plans for individual patients, and supporting the human-animal bond with compassionate and expert care.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Lopez loves spending time with her family, including her husband and two little boys. She likes traveling, exploring the local restaurants, and has two dogs and two cats. Dr. Lopez is fluent in Spanish.
