Scott Hafeman is originally from Nebraska and grew up in a farming and ranching family in the Nebraska panhandle. He received a bachelor’s degree with distinction in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He then attended Colorado State University and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2006.
Dr. Hafeman did a one year rotating internship in oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine and surgery at North Carolina State University and completed that program in 2007 after being awarded the Outstanding Small Animal Intern award that year.
Dr. Hafeman then returned to CSU to pursue a PhD in tumor immunology, which he completed in 2011. He has worked as a part or full-time emergency veterinarian since 2007 and as a full-time emergency veterinarian in the Denver area since 2011. He has also managed medical oncology cases for multiple hospitals in the greater Denver area since this time. Scott is very excited to be part of the team at VCA Highlands Ranch.
Outside of work Dr. Scott is a volunteer speaker for the American Cancer Society and he enjoys camping, fly fishing, hiking and otherwise exploring Colorado’s beautiful back-country with his dogs.
