Oncology

Oncology is the specialty of cancer medicine.

At VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital all of our doctors are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in dogs and cats. Cancer is usually diagnosed through a combination of blood tests, x-rays, ultrasound, and cytology or biopsy.  Once a diagnosis of cancer has been made, we will help you understand the available treatment options so that you may make an informed, compassionate decision that is best for your family and, most importantly, for your pet's quality of life.

Many types of cancer can be treated in our hospital, with surgery, chemotherapy, or both.  At VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital, our full-time board-certified internal medicine specialist, Dr. Suzanne Cook Olson, has years of experience in treating many types of cancer with chemotherapy.  If there is a specialized treatment recommended, such as radiation therapy, we will discuss referral to a board-certified veterinary oncologist.
