Laura began her career in veterinary medicine as a receptionist at a small animal clinic in 1997. As a team member, she developed a puppy training curriculum still used today. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Bellevue University in 2000, and relocated with her active duty husband to California. While in California, she developed a training and professional development program for receptionists and veterinary assistants at a small animal practice outside of Los Angeles. She was also lucky to encounter many exotic animals that came through the clinic. In 2002, her family was reassigned to Oklahoma City where Laura served as Office Manager at a small animal practice, mentoring her team about the importance of professionalism and pet owner education and service. During her tenure, she was instrumental in supporting a spay/neuter and vaccination clinic that served economically disadvantaged pet owners in the surrounding area. She was also involved in building a new site for the existing clinic in Oklahoma. In 2009, Laura and her growing family returned to Nebraska, and she joined the team at MidWest Veterinary Specialty Hospital (Midwest Vet) as the Front Office Manager in May of 2010. In 2015, VCA acquired MidWest Vet, and Laura became Client Service Supervisor. She was instrumental in helping her team through this transition, as well as through the acquisition of the Animal Emergency Clinic in 2016 that resulted in the formation of VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center. In 2018, Laura continued her professional development through her new role as Referral Coordinator. Laura enjoyed fostering the relationships with primary care veterinarians throughout the Heartland, and built professional working relationships with the community. In the late fall of 2021 Laura became the Hospital Administrator for VCA MidWest, and is excited to work with such an amazing team of individuals and sees a bright future for the communities pets and their comprehensive veterinary care.
