Digital Radiography MidwestRadiographs, or x-ray studies, use x-rays to create an image of the body. This is the most frequently used form of veterinary imaging. Images are produced by passing x-ray energy through the body. The energy that reaches the other side is detected by a plate and converted into an electronic signal. This information is sent to a computer to create a visible image. Digital radiography does not use film, so it is faster to obtain the images and also makes it easy to share images with other veterinarians. Radiographs are used to diagnose disease in the chest, abdomen, and musculoskeletal system. Contrast studies of the gastrointestinal and urinary tract may also be performed.

Diagnostic Imaging

Veterinarians are not always able to determine a pet’s problem by reviewing of a patient’s medical history and performing a complete physical examination. They often need to perform some type of diagnostic imaging, which may include:

  • Radiography / x-rays
  • Ultrasonography
  • Computer tomography (CT/CAT scan)
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Our team of board-certified veterinary specialists and highly trained emergency doctors works closely with board-certified veterinary radiologists to correlate medical image findings with other examinations and test results to help in the diagnosis of many disease conditions. Diagnostic imaging helps our veterinarians evaluate:

  • Musculoskeletal system for bone and muscle disorders
  • Cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Gastrointestinal and digestive system problems
  • Reproductive organs
  • Urinary elimination systems

We are committed to providing optimal care to our patients using state-of-the-art veterinary diagnostic imaging. We also provide outpatient ultrasonography services for veterinarians through our Internal Medicine Department.
