Dr. Thomas Groneck is a Winston-Salem native. He graduated from NC State in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and took a year off from school to work in Thomasville, NC, to get more experience in the veterinary field before being accepted into NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine. In school, he enjoyed many parts of the curriculum and excelled in pathologies, parasitology, and dentistry. He plans to apply these skills to ensure good preventative care and preempt health problems that commonly arise in veterinary medicine. Dr. Groneck has a strong belief in educating owners so that he can help them through the decision making process in what is best for their pet's health.

At home he lives with two mutts, Max and Bear, as well as cat named Lucky. Max was found as a lost puppy wandering the mountain cabin family property in Virginia and quickly became a cornerstone of the family and certified couch potato. Bear was adopted from the Forsyth animal shelter to fill the big dog void in the family. Lucky was adopted from Thomasville Veterinary Hospital during Dr. Groneck's employment there when Lucky's prior owner passed away. Dr. Groneck enjoys spending time with his family, friends and pets, as well as drawing, tennis, soccer, music, and cooking.

Dr. Groneck was hired at VCA Animal Hospital West in August 2020 has been excited to get to know the pets and owners in his hometown and contribute his knowledge in medicine!
