Dr. Lauren Baral is a Southern California native with a soft spot for the east coast. She first made the venture East to attend Boston University where she received a Bachelors degree in Biology and a love of all of the New England seasons, apart from summer (California does this best). She then traveled across the pond for her veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. She pursued a track in small animal medicine, emergency and critical care, and ophthalmology and received a BVetMed (DVM equivalent degree).

She ventured to Thailand for 3 weeks to work with a veterinary charity for a spay and neuter surgery program for the local village dogs and strays to aid in overpopulation, education, and rabies vaccination. 

The east coast called yet again and she moved to Rhode Island to carry out her Internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich for a rotating small animal internship.

She learned invaluable skills, learned how to work under pressure, and somehow survived overnight shifts. 

She loves building lasting relationships with animals and owners alike and felt general practice medicine would be a great fit and joined VCA Atwood Animal Hospital in 2020. 

When she's off duty, Dr. Baral enjoys going to see live music, tending to her ever-growing houseplant collection, skateboarding on her longboard, and summer in California.
