Before joining VCA Kalamazoo, Dr. Chen served as a staff neurologist at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston and previously at Bush Veterinary Neurology Service in Springfield, Virginia, where they completed their neurology/neurosurgery residency.
Dr. Chen is originally from Taiwan and is fluent in both English and Mandarin (currently working on beginner Spanish). Their special interests include managing epileptic cases and neurosurgeries. Dr. Chen believes the best care in veterinary medicine is not only treating neurological conditions but also considering the quality of life of both patients and caretakers (owners).
Outside of work, Dr. Chen enjoys music and art with their spouse, a Michigan native, and cuddling with their cats, Julius (male) and Batman (female).
