Emergency Care

Medical attention is always a simple phone call away. There is no better, fully staffed, emergency vet team to turn to than Miami’s elite at Knowles Animal Clinics. Both of our animal hospitals are fully staffed and prepared for you and your pet 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Please note that like any emergency room, the most critical patients need priority attention. There are times we may ask you to wait so that we can attend to the pet with the greatest need.

During emergency hours and weekends, all critical emergencies will take precedence over walk-ins and appointments. We do not work off arrival time during crisises. We ask that our clients have patience and understanding during these stressful periods. Critical emergencies include: allergic reactions, seizures, toxicities, bloat, respiratory distress, hit by car, urinary obstruction, heart failure, hemorrhaging (excessive bleeding), unconsciousness, and shock.

If you suspect your pet to have any type of exposure to a toxic chemical, medication or plant, immediately call the ASPCS (Poison Control) at 1-888-426-4435. Be sure to write down the case number given to you by Poison Control and bring this number with the source of toxicity (when possible) when coming to our clinics. A picture of the substance or plant can be helpful if you cannot bring the actual toxicity source.

If possible, please call ahead and inform us of your emergency. This way we are ready to take action upon your arrival. The health and well-being of your pet is our #1 priority at Knowles Emergency Clinics. Please also note that payment is due at time of service. While we understand that your pet is in crisis, we must require payment when services are rendered, otherwise, we cannot keep our doors open and many animals would suffer.

There are companies which offer financial assistance in a medical crisis. A plan such as Care Credit is an interest free way of obtaining a credit card for medical use only. If you are in need of financial assistance, please ask the Knowles Client Service Representative or technician for a Care Credit application. We will do everything in our power to support you in this difficult time. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
