Dr. Shannon Heidorn is originally from Riverside, CA. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis, and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Western University of Health Sciences, graduating in 2012.
Following graduation, Dr. Heidorn completed a small animal rotating internship at one of our close sister hospitals, VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. She completed a second internship in surgery at VCA Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in Los Angeles, CA, and a third in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at the Veterinary Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Dr. Heidorn underwent a three-year surgical residency at VCA Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in Los Angeles, where she achieved board certification as a veterinary surgeon (DACVS-SA) in 2019. Her professional interests include orthopedic fracture repairs and soft tissue reconstructive surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Heidorn enjoys swimming, water polo, snowboarding, surfing, and expressing her creativity through drawing and painting. She, her husband, and two kids are excited to attend the Giants and River Cats games. They share their home with a cat named Gimli and a pitbull mix named Eowyn.
