Staff Veterinarian
DVM
Dr. Kaplan was born in Bronxville, New York and grew up in the suburbs of New York and New Jersey. His father was a veterinarian who owned and ran the Nanuet and Saddle River Animal Hospitals during his 35 year career. Dr. Kaplan attributes his early interest in veterinary medicine to his experience growing up working with his father, and an early appreciation for the simple joys of protecting, and helping, those who bring so much happiness to our lives - our pets!
Dr. Kaplan did his undergraduate training at Boston College (Go Eagles!) and obtained his veterinary degree from Cornell University (Go Big Red!). He obtained his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and has since been serving his community practicing general and emergency medicine. Dr. Kaplan has special interests in ultrasonography (both abdominal and cardiac), orthopedic medicine, and internal medicine.
When not working, Dr. Kaplan enjoys playing the Irish Tin Whistle, hiking/camping, practicing the martial arts, participating in environmental activism, traveling to the wild places still left in the world, and spending time with his beloved wife, Ivett, and his mischievous cat, Blackie.
