Nineteen regional VCA Animal Hospitals volunteered to help adoptable cats and kittens find forever homes, so the center can make room for the many additional rescues that need assistance following this massive disaster. To help support BVSPCA with this massive rescue effort, VCA has embarked on a regional fundraising campaign to aid the Rescue & Rehab Center in support of the hundreds of adoptable shelter pets that have been displaced with no place to go.
“We were already at the seasonal peak for cat intakes locally,” Adam Lamb, Brandywine Valley SPCA Chief Executive Officer. “VCA stepping up to help find forever families for cats we rescued from storm ravaged shelters has been pivotal in being able to save more lives impacted by Hurricane Florence.”
“The devastation and flooding caused by Hurricane Florence has severely impacted the many local shelters that were full of adoptable animals and had no safe place to be housed,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer of VCA Animal Hospitals. “Brandywine Valley SPCA has done a remarkable job mobilizing and staffing the evacuation center and transporting animals to a safe place. We are very proud to be helping them find homes for the many adoptable cats and kittens, so the center can help more evacuated pets in need.”
The following VCA Animal Hospitals have cats and kittens for adoption and can accept donations to help Brandywine Valley SPCA support the significant cost of the center and continue their important rescue work.

About Brandywine Valley SPCA
Founded in 1929, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is the first open admission no-kill shelter in Pennsylvania and Delaware. In 2017, the BVSPCA cared for more than 14,000 stray, owner-surrendered, wayward owned, and abused and neglected animals while achieving a 96% live release rate. The BVSPCA provides animal protective services for Chester County and much of Delaware County in Pennsylvania, and it holds a five-year contract with the Delaware Office of Animal Welfare to provide state-wide animal services for dogs. Animals are placed through four adoption centers: the West Chester Campus, the New Castle Campus, the Georgetown Campus, and a PetSmart® Everyday Adoption Center in Dover. In addition, the BVSPCA provides families with safety net and low-cost veterinary services at its three clinic locations: the Malvern Animal Health Center, the New Castle Animal Health Center, and the Georgetown Animal Health Center. www.bvspca.org.
