Dr. Mary Lempert graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and practiced for seven years in Austin, TX, before moving back home to Indiana in 2023. Her interests include internal medicine, clinical pathology, soft tissue surgery, and clinical research. Dr. Lempert's passion is working with reptiles and exotic companion mammals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, rats, gerbils, and hamsters. Specifically, she has worked to promote rabbit welfare since 2008, and spends her free time working to advance rabbit medicine and surgery. She has published several articles in Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine and recently presented her research at the exotic veterinary conference ExoticsCon.
Dr. Lempert's favorite part of being a veterinarian is meeting people who love their animal companions. She enjoys the challenge of complex medical and surgical cases, but most of all, she loves seeing previously ill or injured animals return to healthy, happy pets.
Outside of work, Dr. Lempert spends time with her husband, Josh; son, Charlie; dog, Maggie; and rabbit, Cowsauce (named by her creative husband, not her!).
