Despite being born in South Carolina and raised in Indiana, Susan Draeger is an El Cerrito local, having lived in the area since 1988. Dr. Draeger obtained her DVM from UC Davis in 1995 and has been a member of the VCA family since 2006. She currently serves as the Medical Director for VCA Albany Animal Hospital.

Her favorite parts of her job are forming lasting relationships with pets and their caretakers, helping people better understand their pets and provide for their needs (both in health and in disease), and working with a team of dedicated professionals who love the animals as much as she does. She is focused on providing excellent wellness care for pets and education for owners. As a general practitioner, her professional interests include medicine, dentistry, and surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Draeger enjoys singing, gardening, cooking, hiking, photography, solving puzzles and playing games. Her furry family includes her dog, Marble.
