Dr. Tony Guerino is a native New Englander who graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Physiology in 1989. He went back home and received his DVM from Tufts in 1989. After a very brief stint in his home town, he moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he ran and then owned a busy companion animal, avian, exotic animal practice. There, he and his team treated a vast array of species from all over New England. He was a frequent guest lecturer at the University of New Hampshire and the lone veterinary advisor to the NH PDMP.

In 2013 he became the first Area Medical Director in VCA's NE region, balancing his duties at his home hospital while overseeing 13 hospitals in NH, MA, and VT. In 2016, he joined VCA's Central group as a Regional Medical Director and is continuing this role in the recently formed Heartland Group. His main interests are medical and leadership development. Professionally, he enjoys surgery, anesthesia, and everything ZooMed.

After a 5-year stint in the Indianapolis area with his wife Erika, he decided to go back to his beloved home state of New Hampshire and VCA Animal Medical Center. They have three grown children and share the house with one dog, two cats, and three birds.
