Jenna Cardillo
Veterinarian Specialist - Emergency/Critical Care DVM, MS, DACVECC

Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care

Jenna Herrington Cardillo, a South Florida native, grew up surrounded by animals. Inspired from a young age by her father's work as a local veterinarian, she knew she wanted to follow in his footsteps.

Dr. Cardillo earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Italian Studies from the University of Florida. She went on to attend veterinary school at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, where she developed a wide range of veterinary interests, particularly in infectious diseases and One Health. During her clinical year, her focus expanded to include ophthalmology, cardiology, and emergency medicine, leading her to pursue a rotating internship at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital back home in South Florida.

It was during her internship that Dr. Cardillo discovered her passion for emergency medicine, recognizing the value of supporting both pets and their families through challenging, often emotional, moments with compassion. After a year in general and emergency practice, she chose to specialize further and pursued a residency in Emergency & Critical Care.

This decision took her to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she completed her residency and also earned a Master's degree in hemorrhagic shock. Following her residency, she returned to South Florida to rejoin her VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital family. Dr. Cardillo's professional interests include septic and hemorrhagic shock, trauma, mentorship, and fostering a growth mindset.

Thrilled to be back in her hometown, Dr. Cardillo enjoys spending her time outside the hospital with her husband, Tyler, and their lovable doodles, Maverick and Juniper.
