Kitten Health Care

Cat Life Stages: Kitten (1-12 months)

Kitten Tips

When a kitten fractures a bone, she’ll limp or walk on three legs. If you suspect a limb fracture, you can use a pencil, a tongue depressor or even cardboard to temporarily immobilize the leg before heading to the vet.

Cats infected with the Feline Leukemia Virus can look perfectly healthy in the early stages of the disease, but are still highly contagious. Vaccinations are crucial in the prevention of many fatal diseases in kittens.

A kitten’s diet must be rich in taurine, an amino acid responsible for cardiovascular fitness and eye health in cats. Kittens can’t produce taurine naturally, so scientists recommend 1000 mg per day per kg of dry food.
