Local Medical Issues

There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, because the winter temperatures here do not get cold enough to kill fleas or intestinal parasites, each poses a problem in any season. Using flea prevention year-round will alleviate the potential for flea-related problems. "Scooping up" after your dog or cat will help with intestinal parasites. Also, contrary to what one would expect, allergies are an issue in every season. Many pets suffer from allergies, the signs of which can include scratching, redness in the ears, licking paws, and ear and skin infections. If your pet suffers any of these symptoms, we recommend you have them evaluated so they can be treated properly.
