Local Medical Issues
Our hospital offers and encourages Preventive Medicine Services through the use of special "Early Disease Detection/Wellness" programs for adult and senior dogs. Because pets are living longer, they are experiencing increased problems with chronic illnesses and cancer. The earlier a problem is diagnosed and a treatment plan started, the better the outcome. These programs recommend twice yearly exams by a veterinarian in order to detect any changes or illness in pets as they age. In addition to a physical examination, other diagnostic tests (laboratory work, urinalysis, fecal exam, x-rays, etc.) are often recommended if a problem is detected. Ask your veterinarian which tests are appropriate for your dog.
Likewise for the potential for flea and tick infestation, or intestinal parasites, each of which poses a problem in any season.
And finally, contrary to what you'd expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.
We harness the scale and strength of our global network while acknowledging each individual's contribution. We work locally to improve the lives of all who interact with our brand.

PAWS Cat City is located in Seattle's University District. Since PAWS opened this urban, cat-only adoption center in 1997 (originally in the Greenwood neighborhood), we have found homes for more than 15,000 cats and kittens through this location. PAWS Cat City's open-colony setting, with cats and kittens staying in rooms rather than in cages, provides an opportunity for visitors to interact with the cats, see how they interact with each other, and get a better sense of each cat’s unique personality.
