Dr. Mary Schenk joined VCA in 2026, bringing more than 25 years of veterinary experience and a passion for providing thorough, high-quality medical care. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in 1999 and, earlier in her career, practiced emergency and critical care medicine and served as a relief veterinarian in a variety of clinical settings.
Before joining VCA, Dr. Schenk owned and operated a mobile veterinary practice, providing house-call services for pets and their families from 2007 through 2025. She is excited to return to a collaborative hospital environment where she can work alongside fellow veterinarians, technicians, and assistants to provide exceptional patient care.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Schenk values building strong relationships with clients and helping ensure clear communication throughout a pet's health care journey. She is dedicated to helping families find answers when their pets are not feeling their best and works closely with pet owners to develop thoughtful care plans tailored to their pet's individual needs.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Schenk enjoys dancing, listening to audiobooks, and leading an LGBTQ+ Latin dance group in the Twin Cities. She shares her home with her two cats, Bogart and Senior.
