Dr. Angelica Mares grew up in Southern California. Since she was a young child, she knew she wanted to work with animals, and that passion never went away. She started her career in veterinary medicine at the age of 19 as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to technician and technician supervisor! In 2010, she graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with her Bachelor of Science, with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine. In 2019, she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona.
Since earning her veterinarian license, Dr. Mares has worked in both emergency and general practice medicine, and she joined the VCA College Park - Ana Brook Animal Hospital team in 2022! Dr. Mares' goal has always been to create a trusting and caring relationship with her clients and patients, and she strives to accomplish that goal each and every day. When she isn't in the hospital caring for her furry patients, she enjoys gardening, nature walks, crochet, reading, baking, painting, and trying new restaurants. She is always ready and willing to try new hobbies and experience new adventures.
