At the core of our health maintenance program is a thorough annual or semi-annual wellness examination. All pets should have a health maintenance exam at least once a year. For older pets or pets with chronic problems, twice a year may be indicated.
During your visit, we ask you important questions about how your pet has been doing since your last visit. We evaluate your pet’s body condition, hydration, mucous membranes, eyes, ears, teeth, skin, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, urogenital system, neurologic system, musculoskeletal system, and endocrine system. In many cases, we recommend laboratory testing to further investigate abnormalities encountered during the visit or to screen older pets for problems that may be difficult to detect on physical examination alone. Finally, we tell you what your pet needs to stay healthy until we see each other again. This may include vaccinations, internal and external parasite control, and recommendations about type and amount of diet and exercise.
