Dr. Halas spent most of her life growing up on the east coast in the beautiful mountains of northwest New Jersey. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian and dedicate her life towards caring for animals. She began pursuing her dream by attending Susquehanna University, where she majored in Biology. She excelled at science and math and eventually graduated Summa Cum Laude with Biology Departmental Honors. She spent the next year gaining valuable experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine. She volunteered her time to assist the local equine and large animal ambulatory service. She also worked for a small animal general hospital and an emergency facility.
Eventually, she was accepted into The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and made the big move to Ohio. She graduated in 2009 and worked at two different practices to gain clinical experience in preventative medicine. Then, desiring a more structured learning environment, she pursued a rigorous one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Medical Center of CNY in Syracuse, NY. She became a more confident and experienced veterinarian with the help of her mentors. After successfully completing her internship, she realized she missed the Midwest and its friendly, caring people. So, she became a relief doctor with Lighthouse Veterinary Personnel Services to help out local practices all around Northeast Ohio. You may remember her filling in here at VCA North Ridge Animal Hospital to assist doctors with their heavy caseload. Eventually, she realized that North Ridge was one of her favorite places to work. She fell in love with the clients, patients, and staff members. In June of 2018, she accepted a full-time associate veterinarian position and has been with us ever since.
In her spare time, Dr. Halas enjoys relaxing at home with her fiancé, Francisco, their daughter, Marisol, and her 3 adorable cats Savannah, Cosmo, and CreamPuff. She has a special interest in surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine. She is also fear-free certified and is excited to help your pets feel more comfortable in the veterinary setting.
