True or False: Pets may try to lap up unattended alcoholic New Year’s Eve drinks.
Answer: True
Your pet may not be partial to all types of alcohol, but they’re bound to find some alcoholic drinks delicious. If a particularly yummy-seeming drink is left within reach, they’d be happy to lap it all up.
The problem is that pets are much more sensitive to the effects of alcohol than people are, which means a relatively small amount of booze can cause much more than a simple buzz. Vomiting, incoordination and depression are all common symptoms, but serious problems, like seizures and coma, are possible, too.
So this New Year’s Eve, be sure to ask all your party guests to keep a weather eye on their drinks so that your pet can safely ring in the New Year along with you.
