Hello

I am excited and proud to be a member of the wonderful team here at VCA Wyoming for over 3 years. As an associate veterinarian, I examine, diagnose and treat our dog and cat patients. Client education and communication are also very important aspects of my job and I take tremendous pride and joy in helping my patients however I can. The staff at VCA Wyoming excels in customer service and patient care. We treat each other and our clients like family and their pets as if they were our own.

I grew up in Las Cruces and attended New Mexico State University (go Aggies!), graduating with my bachelor’s degree in 2000. I then left New Mexico to attend veterinary school at Colorado State University, where I obtained my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. I have been practicing back in my beautiful home state since 2004.

My childhood in Las Cruces included caring for our cats and dogs (miniature schnauzers). I was about 10 years old when one of our dogs was hit by a car after escaping from the yard. While he wasn’t seriously injured, I was responsible for caring for him and decided then and there that I wanted to work with animals. I was also involved in ballet, dancing with Michele’s Dance Academy and the Las Cruces Chamber Ballet for over 10 years.

As many others in my profession, I have held many positions within this field over the past 20 years. I started working at a veterinary clinic in Las Cruces in high school cleaning kennels after school; during college, I was a technician/assistant. Working at a veterinary clinic for 5 years prior to veterinary school allowed me to see what this profession is all about as well as learning a tremendous amount about patient care. It is due to the amazing veterinarians that I worked with in these early years that I attribute my love of this profession.

I have made Albuquerque my home since 2004. I enjoy spending time with my husband (yes, he’s a Lobo), and our young son. The Grainger house also has a small zoo, which includes dogs (dachshunds), cats, a turtle and a hamster. We enjoy the outdoors, watching our son play soccer and road trips.
