Esophagoscopy

Esophagoscopy is useful in the diagnosis of esophageal diseases, which includes esophagitis, esophageal foreign bodies, as well as in the diagnosis of esophageal strictures and cancer. Esophageal foreign bodies can be removed during this procedure. A fiber optic flexible camera is placed into the esophagus via the mouth while pets are under anesthesia. Most patients recover well from this procedure and are able to go home the same day it is performed.
