Eric Andersen
Veterinarian DVM
Dr. Andersen received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 at Colorado State University. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 1996. Thereafter he worked as a small animal veterinarian in Eugene, Oregon, until he and his wife, Dr. Danica Salamun, moved back east to be closer to family. They bought the Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic in 2004 and moved into their new state-of-the-art veterinary clinic in 2007.

In addition to general small animal medicine, Dr. Andersen’s special interest is in Orthopedic Surgery. He has advanced training in fracture repair by external skeletal fixation (as shown in the above photo) as well as bone plating. He performs cruciate ligament repair by the TPLO technique as well as the extracapsular (lateral suture) method. He routinely repairs luxating patellas (trick knee caps) by the wedge trochleoplasty and tibial crest transposition technique. He is a member of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society and he is committed to his love of life-long learning and technical advancement. He recently attended a 3 day Masters workshop on TPLO surgery in Las Vegas, a diagnostic ultrasound seminar at the University of Illinois, and canine rehabilitation lectures by the leader in that field, Dr. Darryl Millis. Dr. Andersen also oversees Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic’s physical rehabilitation program.

Dr. Andersen enjoys exploring the outdoors of the Northeast with his family. They will soon finish their quest to climb all of New York’s fire towers.
