Dr. Katelyn Jones was born and raised in Central Florida and grew up loving spending time with animals and enjoying the Florida outdoors. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida where she was a LEAD Scholar and worked in veterinary medicine while also spending time volunteering at a wildlife refuge. She then went on to attend the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her doctorate in veterinary medicine and additional certification in Veterinary Business Management. She also obtained her Fear Free Certification in veterinary school and maintains her certification, now being a Fear Free Elite Certified Professional, is RECOVER Veterinary CPR trained and has additional training in ultrasound and laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Jones's true niche is working with small animals, but she also enjoys seeing exotic companion mammals and reptiles. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is seeing something new every day and her true passions within her job are client communication, internal medicine, emergency, advanced imaging and ophthalmology. While she primarily practices western medicine and strives to immerse herself in continuing education she also finds joy with integrating eastern practices of medicine into treatment plans to provide the best care possible to her patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys traveling when she can, spending time with friends and family at local breweries, attending concerts and spending time outside hiking and exploring. She otherwise spends her time teaching students and spending time with her at-home zoo which consists of a mixed-breed dog she rescued named Dodger, two foster-failure kittens named Taz and Mojo, and a ball python named Aerys (named after a character from her favorite show, Game of Thrones).
