Kylie Hopkins has been a dedicated member of the VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center team since July 2002. Over her 20+ years at the hospital, she has worked nearly every shift—day, swing, and overnight—and taken on various roles, including CSR, Specialty services coordinator, and patient advocate. Regardless of her role, Kylie's primary focus has always been creating a positive experience for every client she interacts with, a mission that continues to make her job rewarding.
Kylie's passion for veterinary medicine began early. She completed Veterinary Assisting 1 & 2 ROP courses in high school (1999/2000) through an adult education program, intending to pursue veterinary school. While working full-time at VCA, she earned her associate's degree from Grossmont College. Kylie fell in love with the VCA family, the knowledge she gained working alongside talented doctors and staff, and the fulfillment of excelling in her roles—all while raising her family.
Her professional interests center on the ever-changing nature of veterinary medicine and the hope it provides to clients and patients. Kylie finds inspiration in the opportunity to help people cope and find understanding during times of crisis, which remains the heart of her role and the reason she still loves the industry after two decades.
When she's not at work, Kylie spends her time camping in Southern California's mountains and deserts with her husband and youngest daughter. She is incredibly close to her parents, two sisters, and their families, who often join in her adventures. Kylie shares her home with a variety of beloved pets, including four cats, a ferret, a bearded dragon, and a ball python.
Fun Fact: Kylie is a proud mother of two beautiful daughters and has been blessed with uneventful pregnancies, allowing her to serve as a surrogate for three families, bringing four surrogate babies into the world. She attributes her love of medicine and the influence of the veterinary field—a uniquely female-dominated industry—for inspiring her to find joy and fulfillment in helping others in such a meaningful way.
