Veterinarian Specialist - Emergency & Critical Care
Dr. Emily Southward earned her bachelor's degree in biology with a focus on comparative physiology from the University of California, San Diego. After working various jobs while applying to veterinary schools, she graduated with her DVM from Ross University in 1997. She completed her senior clinics and ECFVG year at the University of Minnesota, where she developed a love for winter. Following an internship in anesthesiology, she worked in Twin Cities emergency hospitals before completing an ECC residency at the University of Missouri, becoming a diplomate. Dr. Southward moved to Los Angeles in 2005 and has since worked in multiple specialty hospitals in Southern California. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, Pilates, the ocean, sea shell collecting, swimming, and spending time with her husband and four cats: Dillon, Barnacle, Odin, and Isis.
