Emergency Veterinarian
DVM
Dr. Deanna Chung grew up surrounded by parakeets, pocket pets, and wildlife. Her love of animals and science continued to UCLA, where she spent 4 years studying bird, reptile, and amphibian behavior and ecology. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology, a minor in conservation, and two published papers. During her studies, she applied to be a small animal kennel attendant and veterinary assistant at a private practice in Beverly Hills, which solidified her desire to become a veterinarian. She later earned her DVM from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Afterward, she worked at a hybrid general practice/emergency hospital in Sacramento. She ultimately decided to focus more on emergency medicine and completed a 1-year small animal rotating internship at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. She then moved down to southern California to serve the community she fell in love with during her college years and reconnect with the food, culture, and people. In her free time, she loves birdwatching, hiking, listening to music, gardening, painting, exploring new cities, eating good food, constructing catios, and cuddling with her purr baby, Georgi.
