I've had animals most of my life, from dogs to horses. I started out wanting to be a veterinarian but found I couldn't tear myself away from horses. So instead I found myself dabbling in working in veterinary large medicine while I rode, my focus slightly divided. Little did I know, my horse of 20 years would be who led me back to veterinary medicine. After he got sick with equine leukemia, I saw a side of veterinary medicine I hadn't before. I didn't need to be a veterinarian to help. I saw all that veterinary technicians did, from drawing up vaccines and placing IV catheters, to comforting their patients, and knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. 18 years have come and gone since I've entered the veterinary field, but I can easily say I love my job the same if not more than I did before.
While my job is a huge part of my life, I have also been blessed with two daughters and now a brand new granddaughter.
Whether I'm hanging out with my family, at work, reading or learning more to better myself in my chosen field, I can easily say I have no regrets.
