VCA Northside Animal Hospital is proud to be serving the communities of Danbury, New Fairfield, Bethel, Brookfield, Brewster, Caramel, Putnam, and Ridgefield for over 20 years. We have grown into a large, full-service Animal hospital that is committed to providing you with excellent customer service and a welcoming experience every time you visit.

We have exotic capabilities to see, but are not limited to, the following:

Local Medical Issues

Having a pet is a wonderful experience. However, there are some zoonotic diseases that you should be aware of. These are diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans such as intestinal parasites, leptospirosis, rabies , tick-borne diseases. There are ways to protect our pets and our human family members from these diseases. Pets can be protected from many diseases by vaccinations and year round prevention.

Did you know that Intestinal parasites can be transmitted through contaminated soil and fecal matter. To protect yout pets they should be on year round parasite protection call such as heartworm pills and topical flea and tick applications. You should have your pets stool sample checked annually to make sure they aren't infected and shedding parasites in your home.

Lyme disease in endemic to our area and we have several ways to protect your dog for this tick-borne disease. We have several spot-on topical products that protect for one month, as well as a vaccine for Lyme disease. We recommend testing your adult dog for Lyme prior to starting the vaccine series.

Leptospirosis is another disease of pets and people in our area spread by the Leptospira bacteria found in wild animal urine and natural water sources such as lakes, streams and ponds. The disease can cause liver and kidney disease in dogs and can be fatal. We have blood testing and vaccinations available to protect your pet from this disease.
