LOS ANGELES--VCA Animal Hospitals announced today that Dr. Todd Lavender has been appointed to President of Animal Hospitals and Petcare Services, effective September 1, 2019. Dr. Lavender will report to Doug Drew, who will now oversee operations for Mars Veterinary Health in North America.

“Dr. Lavender’s in-depth knowledge of the medical and business side of VCA’s hospital operations made him an ideal fit for this position,” said Doug Drew. “As a veterinarian, he also possesses a deep compassion for the pets, clients and veterinarians we serve. We are highly confident in his ability to lead the organization into the future and I look forward to working with him to continue to advance the veterinary profession as a whole.”

Dr. Lavender has been with VCA for over 15 years, working most recently as the Senior Vice President of Eastern Hospital Operations. He has held many successful roles at VCA, including Regional Medical Director, Recruiting and Professional Relations Director, and Senior Group Vice President for VCA’s eastern division.

Bob and Art Antin, two of the three co-founders of VCA, have announced that they will be stepping down from their roles after 33 years of successfully leading the company. They will continue to consult for VCA, supporting Dr. Lavender and the new leadership team throughout the next year.

“Bob and Art, along with co-founder Neil Tauber, have not only have built a successful company, but a recognizable petcare brand and a unique employee culture,” added Drew.

Neil Tauber will remain in his current role at VCA as Executive Vice President.

“I am excited about our future. As we move forward, we will never forget how we became who we are and the purpose we all serve,” said Dr. Lavender. “My thanks to Bob, Art and Neil for creating this special company that gives its employees the ability to change lives, together as a VCA family. I could not be more proud to continue our mission: 'Your pet’s health is our top priority and excellent service is our goal.’”
