LOS ANGELES – VCA Animal Hospitals, the global leader of comprehensive veterinary services and proudly part of Mars Veterinary Health, is honored to announce it has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Mental Well-being for 2025.

This recognition is based on a rigorous, independent study conducted by Plant-A Insights, drawing from over 403,000 employee interviews and 4.9 million company reviews. It highlights companies that are truly leading the way in supporting mental health at work.

“As one of the largest employers in the veterinary profession, we understand that while working in this field can be incredibly rewarding, it also has inherent factors that may impact the well-being of our dedicated Associates. They experience great joy in caring for pets, as well as exposure to challenging situations faced by caregivers in general, which can exacerbate symptoms of compassion fatigue, burnout syndrome, anxiety and depression. VCA is proud that our efforts to support our Associates with resources that promote mental well-being have been recognized by Newsweek,” said Paola Perez-Loaiza, VCA's Vice President for People & Organization.

VCA’s supportive environment is bolstered by internal and external resources:

  • To ensure all Associates are protected and supported, leadership teams complete mental health awareness and suicide prevention training.
  • VCA offers access to the Headspace meditation app and to Lyra Health, including up to 12 free therapy or coaching sessions per year.
  • Numerous VCA hospitals have created meditation rooms as calm spaces to take a healing pause.
  • VCA has a network of social workers in some of its largest hospitals, each embedded with hospital teams to offer training, resources, and support in challenging situations to both our Associates and clients.
  • A toolkit to easily access valuable tools and resources to improve financial knowledge and student debt program to decrease financial stress.

“Our relentless focus on mental well-being is driven by a commitment to reduce stigma, improve access to care, and increase the utilization of mental health services. We believe that by prioritizing mental well-being, we can create a supportive environment where our Associates can thrive both personally and professionally,” said Johanna Baldwin, VCA’s Director of Benefits & Well-being.

This recognition builds on earlier recognition of VCA by Newsweek, including being named One of the Greatest Workplaces for Diversity in December 2024 and One of the Greatest Workplaces for Women for both 2024 and 2025.
