Jackie has 22 years of experience as a veterinary technician and hasworked in literally every department of the hospital at one point or another (including as a hospital co-manager). She works part time at VCA Roberts and full time at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in their rehabilitation department. She has worked at VCA Roberts for 22 years and started working at VCA South Shore in 2008. She has also been working as a dog trainer since 2001 and teaches group obedience classes for a local training business. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (Knowledge Assessed) through the APDT.
She has a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College and a post-graduate certificate as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee.
Jackie helps provide triage, workup, treatment and nursing care to our patients. Her favorite part of her job is working with the team and helping patients and their families. Jackie likes working at VCA Roberts because it was her family vet growing up and she thought that it was such a privilege to start working here when her career began. She says "every time I step in the building it feels like I am coming home. I have known clients for generations of their pets and I care very much for them and the staff as if they are family."
Her furry family includes a 6-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog named Memphis. Memphis is obsessed with people and loves to help train staff in bandage application and restraint and handling. He is a frequent visitor during her shifts at Roberts and loves to visit with the staff. She spends most of her time training other people with their dogs, but would love to get Memphis certified as a therapy dog so that he can spend more time making people happy.
Outside of work, she loves to hike local trails and bogs with Memphis, spend time with family and friends, cook, work on home improvement projects, and spend time by the water.
