Dr. Mikaela Sivley was born and raised in Southern California. Being raised in a big family, they had several pets including an Australian shepherd, several cats (indoor and outdoor), a leopard gecko, and even a scorpion at one point. Unfortunately, Dr. Sivley's favorite animal, the giraffe, could not be a part of the herd. Still, it was her love for the crooked-necked giraffe at the Santa Barbara Zoo that sparked her passion for veterinary medicine.
Dr. Sivley completed her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at UC Davis with an emphasis in animal behavior and a minor in education. Before veterinary school, Dr. Sivley worked for a smaller veterinary practice in Santa Clarita where one of the most influential parts was building relationships with pets and their parents and having the opportunity to educate. After a few years at that clinic, Dr. Sivley attended veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences where she had the opportunity to rotate through many of the specialty clinics in the Los Angeles area.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Sivley enjoys tackling do-it-yourself projects around the house and exploring the outdoors with her Red Merle Australian Shepherd puppy, Koda. Dr. Sivley's home is also shared with two believed cats: Milo, an adventurous orange tabby, and Theodore, the sweetest gray tabby with cerebellar hypoplasia (more commonly known as "Wobbly Cat Syndrome").
