Who better to spend your Valentine’s Day with than your biggest fan who loves you unconditionally? That’s right, we’re talking about your adoring pet! Show them just how much you love them back—and spoil them silly in the process—with these great pet date ideas:

1. Treat them to a spa day. For those pets who can’t get enough of a good grooming session, spend as long as they like brushing their coat to perfection. Complete the experience with a relaxing pet massage.

2. Snuggle in for a movie night.
Make a cozy nest of pillows and blankets, and pop in a favorite movie to watch with your favorite creature. Or shake things up and head to a drive-in theater, if your local weather allows.

3. Picnic at the park.
If you and your dog are blessed with good weather, seize the day and head to the great outdoors to enjoy some one-on-one time in the sun. Make sure to pack some yummy snacks for your pet, too!

4. Go on a shopping spree. Enjoy a window-shopping walk around town, and end your day at the local pet store to let your pet chose a new toy (or two, or three). Or stay comfy indoors and surprise your pet with your online shopping finds.

5. Bake homemade goodies. Find a healthy recipe and whip up a batch of pet-friendly treats. Help your pet celebrate their pet pals by bagging a few extras for their best buds.

6. Dress up their dinner. Not much of a baker? Garnish their usual meal with some boiled chicken breast (but hold the spices or oils—those can cause problems!), and get your camera ready to capture their uber-excited dinner dance.

7. Watch the sunset. Finish your day in a low-key way by cuddling in close to watch a sunset. Take the opportunity to practice mindfulness and enjoy the beauty and simplicity of this quiet moment with your fluffy companion.

No matter the plan, be sure to keep the day safe as well as fun by avoiding common Valentine’s Day pet problems, such as chocolates, certain flowers and even essential oils.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
