M. Joy Weinstein, VMD, was born and raised in Lakewood, NJ. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Dr. Weinstein graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. She completed a Small Animal Surgery residency at Tufts Universitiy/Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in 1988. The residency training was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Orthopedic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Weinstein was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1990-1994. She is staff surgeon at Shrewsbury Animal Hospital since 1994. Dr. Weinstein has served as the President of the Jersey Shore Veterinary Association the past 11 years. She also served as the Chairperson of the Eastern Veterinary Orthopedic Society. Dr. Weinstein's primary interests are in lameness evaluation, veterinary orthopedic surgery and surgical oncology.

During her leisure, Dr. Weinstein enjoys singing and pottery.
