Dr. Rivas was born and raised in sunny Southern California and has always had a passion for community outreach and caring for animals. As a first-generation student, she earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis, before receiving her veterinary degree from The Ohio State University. Her dedication to both her patients and the people who care for them is reflected in the compassionate and personalized approach she brings to veterinary medicine.
Dr. Rivas has a special interest in surgery, particularly soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgical techniques. During veterinary school, she worked closely with community outreach programs and developed a strong passion for mentorship, education, and improving access to veterinary care within the community. As a Latina raised speaking Spanish, she values building meaningful relationships with clients and takes pride in being an advocate for the diverse communities she serves. She is excited to bring her clinical interests in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, along with her passion for mentorship, education, and community outreach, to VCA Animal Hospitals, where she looks forward to contributing to a collaborative environment focused on compassionate, high-quality veterinary care and improved access for clients and their pets.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Rivas enjoys traveling back home to Los Angeles to spend time with her family. She also loves hiking, exploring new places on road trips, and spending time with her two Cavalier Poodles, Capri and Peach.
