Dr. Emily Grotz is originally from southeastern Massachusetts. As a child, she enjoyed spending time on the beaches of Cape Cod or hiking on the mountains in northern New England. Her love for the outdoors brought her to New Hampshire, where she attended Dartmouth College. Throughout her education, Dr. Grotz enjoyed studying animals' interactions with the natural world and the importance of the human-animal bond. Whether it was working with cats and dogs, wildlife, or small pocket pets, Dr. Grotz always found working in veterinary medicine to be an exciting, compelling, and rewarding career. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Grotz is especially passionate about surgery, dentistry, and exotic animal medicine. She is very excited to be joining the VCA AMC family, and she is honored to serve the people and pets in the Portsmouth area. 

Dr. Grotz enjoys spending time with her significant-other and their animals. Currently, they have an affectionate bearded dragon, and a spunky three-legged cat. Dr. Grotz continues to enjoy spending her free time hiking and exploring all that New England has to offer.
